Description:
Prepare and manage a wide variety of business-based nonimmigrant (H-1B, L-1, TN, E, and O-1) and immigrant (employment and family-based) petitions, including forms preparation and supporting documentation. Prepare immigrant visa petitions, including PERM, EB-1, NIW, EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. Manage high-volume corporate client accounts. Work closely with and communicate with clients to provide comprehensive immigration services with a special focus on healthcare, higher education and technology sector clients. Counsel corporate clients on immigration strategy and compliance. Supervise, train and mentor associates and paralegals in employment-based immigration processes. Compile and maintain records of immigration filings, other documentation and records of activity on behalf of clients.Responsibilities:
- Individual client consultations
- Develop case strategies for client challenges
- Review and approve client documents for submission to government agencies
- Assist health care clients with petitions, waiver applications, and related issues
- Assist clients with form I-9 and E-Verify issues
- Direct representation of clients before government agencies
- Review and approve all client petitions, applications, and evidence for submission to agencies
- Provide substantive and technical leadership for case management
- Will supervise paralegal(s)
- Assist clients and paralegals with technical issues in completing the questionnaires and submitting documents
- Prepare forms and correspondence
- Write detailed and complex supporting argumentation in support of immigration benefits
- Work closely with clients to gather and organize supporting documentation, and case administration
- Prepare filings for relevant federal and state agencies
- Prepare draft correspondence and memoranda
- Enter case information into case management system
- Track the status of filings and inform the client and attorney of any follow up that may be necessary
Qualifications:
- Admitted to New York State Bar or admitted to practice law in another state
- Minimum of 10 years of immigration experience with high-volume practice
- Health care or Higher Education immigration law experience and I-9 and E-Verify compliance experience a plus
- Superior writing/editing skills for complex support letters and strong computer skills
- Must be highly detail-oriented and able to manage multiple high-volume priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with MS Office and expertise with computer assisted legal resources required
- Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization
- Must exhibit well-developed interpersonal and client relation skills
