Job Summary:
As a member of the Litigation Groups team of business and employment litigators, this attorney will focus on single plaintiff, PAGA claims, and class action employment litigation. Most of this work will arise from California matters, but this attorney may manage employment litigation matters in other markets. This attorney may also provide advice and work on strategic labor and employment projects.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage outside counsel in employment litigation matters, both single plaintiff and class action, as well as PAGA matters. Experience in California wage and hour preferred.
  • Advise internal clients regarding defense, settlement, and trial of employment litigation matters.
  • Attend mediations as key authorized representative of KP.
  • Models and reinforces ethical behavior in self and others in accordance with the KP Principles of Responsibility, adheres to organizational policies and guidelines, supports compliance initiatives, maintains confidences, admits mistakes, conducts business with honesty, shows consistency in words and actions, and follows through on commitments.
  • Works with Operational Leaders and Human Resources to provide advice and implement corrective measures
  • Reviews legal documents, memoranda and other forms of communication regarding litigation and other sensitive matters.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
A minimum of eight (8) years of experience litigating or managing the litigation of single plaintiff cases.

Education
Bachelors degree. Juris Doctorate degree required.

License, Certification, Registration
State Bar License (California) within 24 months of hire

Additional Requirements:
  • Solid work ethic, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), and sharp analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience litigating or managing the litigation of single plaintiff litigation.
  • Class Action experience in wage and hour, fair pay, Title VII or FEHA claims preferred.
  • Trial experience.
  • Interest in/familiarity with e-discovery trends and developments.
  • Ability to manage portfolio of employment litigation matters with high degree of independence.
  • Successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in most or all of the above-referenced areas.

This position has a target base salary of $225,000 to $281,250 and is eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.
