In this role, you'll join our commercial team in supporting A Full-Service Real Estate Brokerage Company's companies, including A Full-Service Real Estate Brokerage Company, Rent., Title Forward, and Bay Equity, with product counseling, creative marketing and brand related legal advice, and contract review and negotiation. The ideal candidate will be excellent at building relationships, have impeccable organization skills, and a history of managing regulatory issues that vary across professional associations, states, and federal agencies.
The Role:
- Provide proactive product advice, from development to launch and beyond
- Provide day-to-day support to our brand, marketing, communications, and design teams on collateral including press releases, web content, and tv and radio ads
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements
- Advise on federal advertising and consumer protection laws, like CAN-SPAM and TCPA
- Be or become familiar with relevant real estate advertising requirements in state and provincial laws and regulations, plus multiple listing services and National Association of Realtors® rules
- Respond to ethics, regulatory, and Better Business Bureau® complaints related to A Full-Service Real Estate Brokerage Company's advertisements
- Maintain and develop A Full-Service Real Estate Brokerage Company's internal playbooks, surveys, and resources to scale and streamline advertising, marketing, and product advice
- Provide general oversight and guidance on the regulatory compliance of our marketing, products and services under RESPA
Who You Are:
- 5-7 years of experience providing legal support in a fast-paced environment, and at least 3 years of in-house legal team experience, ideally at a tech company
- A JD or LLM, and a license to practice law in at least one state
- Substantive knowledge of laws related to consumer protection, advertising, and marketing
- Prior product counseling experience
- Experience drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, including substantive knowledge of data privacy and security issues
- Clear and crisp communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to synthesize complex legal advice into actionable, practical business guidance
- Outstanding organizational skills, reading comprehension and follow-through
- Excellent time management skills with a track record of triaging tasks based on business priorities and impact
- A creative team player who enjoys collaborating with legal and business stakeholders to problem solve the tough issues
