Position Overview:
We are pursuing a highly experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to join our growing team on a commission-based structure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment litigation, particularly wage and hour claims, and be eager to contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Employment Law Cases: Manage all aspects of employment law cases, including wrongful termination, discrimination, wage and hour claims, retaliation, and other employment-related disputes. Guide clients through all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation strategy to post-trial proceedings.
  • Develop Legal Strategies: Formulate and execute comprehensive litigation strategies tailored to each client's specific needs and objectives. Work closely with clients to determine their goals and identify the most effective legal approach.
  • Client Consultation and Counseling: Provide expert legal advice and counsel to clients on a broad range of employment law matters, including employment contracts, employee rights, workplace policies, and compliance issues. Educate clients on potential legal risks and strategies for minimizing litigation.
  • Litigation Management: Oversee all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, filing motions, and preparing trial documents. Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as necessary.
  • Deposition and Trial Preparation: Conduct and defend depositions, coordinate witness preparation, and review documents to build strong cases. Prepare clients and witnesses for testimony, and ensure all legal filings are accurate and compliant with court rules.
  • Settlement Negotiations: Lead negotiations with opposing counsel and stakeholders to reach favorable settlements for clients, including participation in mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Research and Analysis: Perform legal research on complex issues in labor and employment law, keeping up to date with new developments in employment regulations, statutes, and case law. Analyze case facts and legal precedents to support the client's position.
  • Team Leadership and Mentoring: Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and paralegals, providing guidance on case strategy, legal research, drafting, and professional development. Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Document Review and Legal Filings: Review and analyze documents relevant to case matters, ensuring precision in legal filings, including citation checks, exhibit assembly, and motion drafting.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in labor and employment law, with strong emphasis on employment litigation.
  • Additional experience in plaintiff-side personal injury litigation is a strong plus.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois and other states are a plus.
  • Proven success managing multiple cases with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record in handling complex employment law cases, including wage and hour disputes, discrimination claims, retaliation claims, and wrongful termination matters.
  • Expertise in federal and state employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FLSA, ADEA, and other related statutes and regulations.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, drafting legal briefs, preparing motions, and managing cases through all phases of litigation.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate settlements and resolve disputes before reaching trial.
