Regulatory Counsel will be responsible for supporting the Company's regulatory and government activities in the U.S., both state and federal, including assisting with the development of overall strategy and management of relationships with U.S. regulators. [Additionally, Regulatory Counsel may support the Company's activities if the company expands internationally.]

What You'll Do:
  • Develop and implement SoLo's regulatory and public policy strategy
  • Manage various advocacy matters for SoLo across a range of regulatory agencies
  • Manage regulatory relationships, including license acquisition and maintenance, examinations, inquiries, and other matters
  • Represent SoLo before relevant regulatory authorities
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and risk tolerances
  • Engage and manage outside counsel and consults to effectively and efficiently represent SoLo
  • Coordinate with the Compliance and Product departments on implementing regulatory initiatives
  • Advise the company on key legal and business matters, across a range of legal, regulatory, and policy matters.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of new financial products, features, and initiatives, balancing risk considerations and business objectives.

You're a Great Fit if You Have:
  • 7+ years regulatory experience either at a top law firm, in-house with a FinTech or government experience, ideally both.
  • A deep understanding of the laws, regulations, and requirements applicable to fintechs, including laws and regulations related to consumer lending, Reg Z, consumer protection, privacy, marketing, payments, and cryptocurrencies
  • Experience managing regulatory relationships at the federal and state level
  • Ability to manage expanding regulatory practice, including using outside counsel strategically and efficiently
  • Ability to strategically and efficiently tasks large and small, in a fast-paced environment and the ability to remain poised under exacting circumstances
  • JD from an accredited US law school (required)
  • Member of a US state bar in good standing
