Summary:An Utilities Company is seeking an experienced real estate/real property attorney to join An Utilities Company in-house legal team. This attorney will provide legal guidance and advice to An Utilities Company client departments in connection with various land transactions and development projects.
The ideal candidate will have broad transactional experience with an emphasis on real estate purchase and sale transactions, easements, land rights, municipal and county development processes, and real property leases. Such experience should include negotiating and drafting complex, real-property-related agreements, conducting title review, and reading ALTA surveys for real property acquisitions. Experience with line-siting or other relevant practice experience before the Arizona Corporation Commission is beneficial but not required.
The successful candidate will be able to (1) prioritize and handle multiple matters and issues simultaneously while keeping management informed of developments, (2) effectively operate within a team environment, (3) develop constructive relationships both internally and externally, and (4) research, problem solve, critically think, and communicate results both verbally and in writing. This position will help shape strategic decision-making in the water and power industry.

What You'll Do:
- Provide high quality legal work on real property transactions within a team environment comprised of clients from various SRP departments and other in-house lawyers.
- Coordinate certain projects with outside counsel, government relations representatives, and technical experts.
- Develop strong, productive, and effective working relationships with internal SRP client departments and executives and with outside counsel.
- Negotiate and draft complex real property related agreements of all kinds including easements, real estate purchase agreements, and ground leases.
- Research complex legal issues and draft written memorandum, summaries, pleadings, agreements, and other legal products.
- Manage and support outside counsel with litigation in state and federal courts related to real property/land issues impacting SRP's core business.
- Analyze federal and state legislation for impacts to SRP's core business functions.
- Organize and coordinate work projects with minimal supervision, prioritize and adjust to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and work well under pressure.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively and efficiently to keep management informed of the status of legal matters.
- Handle all duties with confidentiality, discretion and good judgment.

What It Takes To Succeed
Be Bar certified, in good standing in current state of practice; if not Arizona, able to become certified in Arizona within 18 months
Experience:
- 12-year professional experience are required to be considered a senior.
- Preferred that the candidate have five or more years of legal experience with advising clients on a variety of real estate transactions, contracts, and land rights analysis matters.
- Corporate Attorney or experience related to the assignment.
Education:
Completion of a Juris Doctor (JD ) from an accredited institution.
