Public Interest Education Law Attorney (Hybrid)

Northeast New Jersey Legal Services (NNJLS) has a challenging and rewarding

position available in its Education Law Unit for an attorney seeking to provide legal assistance to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of society. This is a full-time position with the ability to work a hybrid schedule. The attorney will provide representation in a wide variety of Education Law matters, including educational placement and discipline matters, school registration (residency, homeless issues), transportation (homeless students, special education related service), special education (classifications, evaluations, appropriate placements, IEP reviews), discipline matters (suspensions, expulsions), disability accommodations (504 accommodations), and bullying.

NNJLS is a non-profit public interest law firm with over 100 employees providing free legal services to low-income, senior and disabled residents of Hudson, Bergen and Passaic Counties, New Jersey. NNJLS has offices located in Jersey City, Paterson, and Hackensack, NJ. NNJLS's staff of highly experienced and dedicated attorneys provides a wide variety of civil legal assistance and advocacy for those most in need of legal representation such as victims of domestic violence, tenants facing unfair and arbitrary eviction, seniors victimized by unscrupulous creditors and clients facing many other types of legal matters. At least 2 years of Education Law experience preferred. Prior Legal Services experience or a demonstrated commitment to legal assistance for the disadvantaged is a plus. Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish is a plus. Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills are required.
