Position Specific Description
Gexa Energy, LP, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, is seeking an experienced marketing and advertising attorney to assist with its mass marketing business. The role requires knowledge of relevant regulatory, compliance, and consumer protection requirements, such as FTC and FCC regulations, applicable state regulations and privacy rules, PUC rules, and maintaining proactive awareness of relevant changes to ensure the ability to continue providing accurate legal advice. The employee responsible for this role will review and approve marketing and advertising materials to ensure compliance with the applicable laws and regulations, review and negotiate a variety of contracts (e.g. master service agreements, NDAs, IP and technology agreements), advise on strategic initiatives (e.g., loyalty/referral programs, influencer arrangements, and consumer engagement platforms) and provide legal guidance on consumer protection requirements regarding credit and collections practices.

  • Provides written and oral legal advice to clients
  • Anticipates and guards against legal risks involving the organization
  • Works to ensure budget compliance and avoids the need for outside counsel
  • Ensures disclosure of potentially material legal issues to senior leadership
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Member in Good Standing of State Bar
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Juris Doctorate
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 2+ years
