Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced per diem attorney to provide legal services in Medicaid planning and estate administration. This role involves supervising paralegal staff, managing case workflows, and providing direct client consultation when needed. Court appearances are not required for this position.

Key Responsibilities:
Case Management & Supervision
  • Oversee and direct paralegal staff in the preparation of Medicaid planning documents and estate administration materials
  • Review and approve legal documents prepared by paralegals before client delivery
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations regarding Medicaid planning
  • Monitor case progress and deadlines to ensure timely completion of all matters

Client Relations
  • Conduct client consultations for complex Medicaid planning strategies
  • Provide legal advice regarding asset protection and eligibility requirements
  • Communicate with clients regarding case status and next steps as needed
  • Handle sensitive client communications regarding estate and financial planning matters

Legal Document Preparation & Review
  • Draft and review Medicaid planning documents including trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives
  • Prepare estate administration documents such as probate petitions, inventories, and accountings
  • Ensure all documentation meets current legal standards and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with financial institutions, government agencies, and healthcare providers as needed

Quality Assurance
  • Maintain high standards of legal work product across all cases
  • Implement best practices for Medicaid planning and estate administration
  • Stay current with changes in Medicaid regulations and estate law
  • Provide training and guidance to paralegal staff on legal procedures and requirements

Required QualificationsEducation & Licensing
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Current license to practice law in [State]
  • Good standing with the state bar association

Experience Requirements:

Working ArrangementsSchedule & Compensation
  • Per diem/contract basis with flexible scheduling
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
  • Hours to be determined based on caseload needs

Work Environment:
  • Office-based position with potential for some remote work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with special needs trusts and disability planning
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a law firm setting
