An Alternative Dispute Resolution, Business Litigation Law Firm has an immediate opening in our Baltimore office for an attorney with 5+ years' experience in maritime and insurance defense litigation. Qualified candidates must be barred in MD. Candidates that are admitted to other jurisdictions, such as DC, PA, and VA are encouraged to apply.We are looking for candidates that have a variety of litigation experience with a concentration in the defense of maritime disputes, products liability, construction litigation, premises liability, and civil litigation. The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of maritime law and be able to effectively advocate for our clients.
We offer a flexible work environment with options for hybrid work. An Alternative Dispute Resolution, Business Litigation Law Firm is a paperless office with personal laptops provided for attorneys.
Although this position offers remote work, you will be expected to commute to the Baltimore office 3 days per week. You will be required to come to the office 5 days per week during your training period, which is the first 90-180 days.
Compensation: $100,000 to $160,000 annually including bonus
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in MD.
- Admitted to practice in other jurisdictions such as DC or VA a plus.
- 5+ years' experience preferred.
- Candidates should possess strong academic credentials and excellent research, writing and communication skills and have the ability to work independently.
- Candidate will be detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
- Experience with maritime disputes, complex general liability, professional liability, construction litigation, property damage claims, and transportation.
- Candidate will have a variety of litigation experience with a concentration in maritime law and insurance defense.
Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on legal aspects of maritime activities, including resolving disputes relating to maritime accidents, cargo damage, or insurance claims.
- Represent clients in court cases related to maritime law and disputes.
- Investigate and gather evidence for maritime cases including on-site investigations, if necessary.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies such as the United States Coast Guard, port authorities, and environmental agencies.
- The position requires the ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and handle a high volume of cases.
- Research complicated legal issues.
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and all other documents in a timely manner.
- Work closely with other attorneys and support staff.
- Handle court appearances, client meetings, and depositions.
- Communicate with clients regularly.
