The Role:This opportunity is in the U.S. Concerts Division (amphitheater, arena and related venues) of An American Events Promoter and Venue Operator Company. The position requires an experienced transactional attorney who will be responsible for supporting venue operations nationally, including, An American Events Promoter and Venue Operator Company artist agreements, touring, festivals, booking, production, licensing, vendor services and related contracts, and 3rd party deals in the marketplace. The position will be located in Westwood and will provide day-to-day strategic legal support nationally.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate and draft a wide variety of commercial contracts and talent agreements.
- Responsible for venue rental agreements (including 3rd party venues), vendor agreements, 3rd party production agreements, independent contractor agreements, booking agreements, promotion agreements and artist agreements.
- Analyze and enforce intellectual property issues.
- Create client agreements and manage client disputes for various business units in the U.S. Concerts division.
- Provide legal support to venue general managers on a national basis on an array of issues, including risk management.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from accredited law school and California bar membership in good standing, or willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel.
- Minimum 3 years legal experience negotiating and drafting sophisticated legal transactions and agreements. Prior in-house and/or media or entertainment industry experience preferred.
- Background in IP helpful.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
- Excellent judgment and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle a high volume of work, and work through projects with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to responsiveness to the field. Desire to partner with business executives to provide solutions.
- Strong analytical skills. Concise writing skills.
