We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Litigation / Probate Litigation Attorney to join our legal team. As a Litigation Attorney, you will be responsible for representing our clients in various legal proceedings, including trials, hearings, and arbitrations. Your primary focus will be on commercial litigation cases. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging legal environment. Preference will be given for probate litigation experience.
Duties:
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support ongoing cases
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts
- Litigate cases in court, presenting arguments and evidence on behalf of clients
- Negotiate settlements and plea agreements with opposing counsel
- Advise clients on legal matters and provide guidance on potential outcomes
- Attend depositions, hearings, and other court proceedings
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and ensure effective representation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation
- Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact ongoing cases
- Ability to take lead on majority of tasks associatd with litigation, with oversight as needed from managing partner.
Skills:
- 3+ years of civil / commercial litigation experience. Probate litigation experience preferred as well.
- Strong research skills with the ability to gather and analyze complex legal information
- Proficient in legal drafting, including the preparation of pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Preparing and responding to discovery requests
- Experience in litigating cases in court with excellent oral advocacy skills
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents
- Knowledge of legal administrative procedures and practices
- Familiarity with conducting thorough legal research using Westlaw
- Strong negotiation skills to effectively represent clients' interests
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to doing what is right, even when it is hard
