Since the firm's inception, Cox Fricke has prided itself on questioning the traditional way that law firms are structured in Hawaii. One point of emphasis has been ensuring that our attorneys have maximum flexibility. We recognize that everyone has a life outside of the office, and we want to ensure that our platform gives you the ability to balance life and work. For many of our associates and counsel, that means schedules with reduced billable hours that allow them to balance family commitments and other requirements. To accommodate flexible schedules, we have pioneered a unique model for compensating our attorneys, which we believe results in some of the most competitive salaries in the state.

There is no micro-management at this firm. Associates and counsel are important members of the team, whose contributions are highly valued. Our approach is to treat our associates and counsel like professionals: we trust you to independently manage your workload and responsibilities. Since long before covid, we have provided our associates and counsel with the flexibility to work remotely.

No Boilerplate
We're omitting the boilerplate list of job responsibilities that you see in most postings for two reasons. First, we expect that applicants for this position will already have an understanding of what it means to be an associate or counsel at a sophisticated litigation law firm. Second, we recognize that not all lawyers are looking for the same experience. At Cox Fricke, we have some attorneys who like to be on the front lines—practicing in court, taking depositions, and regularly interfacing with clients. But others prefer to take the pen on legal briefs or manage complicated discovery productions. Both are equally valued.
