Role and Responsibilities:
The Privacy Counsel will join the team that supports the AdTech business within Samsung's North America Privacy Office. This role is based in New York, NY and may require some travel to other Samsung offices. Candidates residing in Los Angeles, CA or other geographic locations will also be considered. This is an excellent opportunity to be creative and shine as you help balance consumer privacy protection with commercial goals.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with legal teams in drafting and negotiating agreements for online advertising campaigns, streaming video services, performance-based marketing, and implementation of new technologies such as NFTs and cryptocurrencies onto the company's marketplace on its mobile and TV platforms.
  • Monitor and advise Samsung businesses on developments in AdTech commercial transactions requirements, as well as emerging legislation and regulations.
  • Conduct privacy reviews and assist with data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
  • Recommend and draft policy changes, as necessary.
  • Advise product teams on privacy-by-design strategies and principles for AdTech technologies.
  • Conduct training sessions and initiate privacy awareness campaigns.

Skills and Qualifications:
Experience and Skills:
  • 4 - 5 years of broad privacy and data protection, compliance or legal experience in the US market.
  • 2+ years of experience in the AdTech and/or media streaming businesses.
  • Strong technology acumen and the ability to assess privacy gaps in products/services design.
  • In-depth knowledge of FTC guidelines, new US privacy laws and online advertising industry standards for the US market.
  • Familiarity with the various online advertising roles and the data privacy issues associated with each (e.g., DSP, SSP, DMP, AVOD, SVOD, FAST, etc.).
  • Project management and process development skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data protection and privacy laws and regulations.
  • Ability to multi task, complete projects on time and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated and can operate with minimum supervision.

Education, Training or Certification:
  • Juris Doctor desirable; licensed to practice law in good standing.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and/or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) are highly desirable.

Salary Range Pay Transparency:
Compensation for this role, for candidates based in NYC, is expected to be between $155,000 and $165,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
