A 3 D Design & Engineering Software Company is looking for a motivated Legal Counsel – Intellectual Property to join our Legal team in our Waltham, MA office, in an onsite/hybrid role.
As a member of our North American legal team, you will be part of the Intellectual Property team providing support on a wide range of IP-focused issues in varied areas, including managing IP contractual matters, M&A due diligence, IP litigation, and handle other legal responsibilities.
- In close relationship with the Research and Development teams, draft and negotiate various in-bound licensing agreements for third party software components included in A 3 D Design & Engineering Software Company Group products
- Provide IP-related support to the Legal Department on other types of agreements, such as partnerships, outbound licenses and services agreements with limited guidance
- Facilitate feedback and approval from internal cross functional groups
- Assist in the growth-related operations of the Group, including M&A due diligence, integration of IP related operations, etc.
- This is not a patent-focused role; admission to the patent bar is not required.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited US law
- Admission to Massachusetts, California or other state bar in the U.S.
- 3+ years of legal experience at either a law firm or in-house, or both focused on Technology agreements
- We will consider candidates having a combined 3+ years of work experience balanced between a legal role and a technical background
- Hybrid work at DS local office
- Consistently demonstrates the highest level of integrity without compromise with regards to ethical standards
- Knowledge and experiences with open source software and negotiation of commercial software contracts
- Self-starter, autonomous, and rigorous team player
- Process-driven and work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of providing legal support to internal DS stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and/or within a collaborative team structure
- Positive, self-motivated individual with high level of enthusiasm and willingness to learn and incorporate coaching and instructions into daily tasks and assignments
- Highly organized with critical attention to details
- Possess new technology curiosity and a history of self-technical education; you are not nervous about what you don't know in technology, but excited about it due to your curiosity
