We are actively looking for a Lead Counsel for the Americas to join our Corporate Legal team, and can be based in the D.C market. As part of the Legal Department, the Lead Counsel provides legal advice and counsel (Americas), supporting risk management policies, procedures and values, interfacing with regional leadership and project managers, managing legal claims, overseeing legal and risk projects, performing contract review and negotiation and coordinating with other members of the Corporation's Legal Department. Including regional compliance, general labor/employment support. Works closely with regional leadership, the Chief Legal Officer and other members of corporate and executive staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support corporate governance efforts for local subsidiaries, including corporate secretarial services
  • Advise on compliance, including data protection, etc.
  • Research and advise on country specific legal and compliance requirements in support of international pursuits in a variety of geographies
  • Review, analyze and negotiate contracts and agreements
  • Engage and manage outside counsel in connection with a variety of legal issues
  • Review and advise on proposals, pre-qualification documents and questionnaires
  • Advise and assist on Americas employment issues
  • Interact effectively with senior management, directors, and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Provide training on legal, compliance, risk and other related issues

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Criminal Justice, or related; required
  • Juris Doctor; preferred
  • 15+ years experience in law
  • 7+ years of PQE, qualified solicitor
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrate familiarity with relevant laws and regulations affecting the A-E industry in the Americas
  • Ethical and principled
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Able to work in a team environment, with a proactive attitude
  • Fair and diligent
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail oriented and efficient
  • Strong convictions and the willingness to stand by difficult decisions
  • Experience with business protocol to communicate/ consult with team members, clients and management
  • Excellent time management, decision making, and organizational skills

Base salary range:
$200,000 to $260,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Washington, D.C. markets.

Working Conditions:
Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
