Description:
The law office of Chastaine Jones is seeking a part-time or full-time law clerk in its office in Gold River (Sacramento County). Weareseeking a highly motivated law student who has an interest in criminal defense. The firm's attorneys will mentor you in reviewing and analyzing evidence, developing case strategy, and legal research and writing. Law clerks should be prepared to assist with criminal jury trials as well. The attorneys at Chastaine Jones handle serious matters including felony sex cases, homicide, domestic violence cases, and drug trafficking cases; therefore, applicants must be comfortable working with all types of serious criminal allegations. Some of the law clerk's work may be done remotely.Job Requirements:
- Legal research and writing including researching and writing suppression motions, writs, motions in limine, post-conviction relief motions
- Review, summarize, and analyze the discovery
- Redacting legal documents
- Correspond with clients and opposing counsel
- File and pick up legal documents from surrounding counties
- Attend court with attorneys when necessary
- Assist with law office management and related administrative tasks
Qualifications:
- Comfortable with legal research (Lexis and Westlaw)
- Advanced writing skills
- Strong attention to detail
