Labor Counseling/Advocacy and Employment Law – Of Counsel JD-
This position is located in our Milwaukee, WI Office as part of the Wisconsin (Milw & Madison) Team
The successful candidate will have excellent academic credentials, a strong interest in a labor and employment practice, experience with labor negotiations, union organizing campaigns, NLRB litigation, a strong client service aptitude and a willingness to accept constructive feedback. The ideal candidate will also be detail oriented, have superior interpersonal, analytical and writing skills. Commitment to client service is critical as is the ability to handle a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will project professional presence and demonstrate flexibility in work situations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will handle labor counseling, negotiations, NLRB cases, internal investigations, defense of agency charges of discrimination, lawsuits involving a broad range of employment-related claims, discovery and trial work, and advice and counseling involving similar issues
- Advise and train employers on a wide range of labor and employment laws and regulations
- Represent employers in court, before administrative agencies, at mediations, and in arbitration in a broad range of labor and employment matters
Skills and Educational Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Competitive class ranking
- Admitted to the Wisconsin Bar and in good standing
- Minimum 5 + years’ experience with focus on labor and employment work
- Strong desire for early case leadership exposure
- Understanding of current agency (state and federal) enforcement techniques
