The Opportunity:
An International AmLaw 100 Law Firm is seeking an Employment Counsel to join our Labor & Employment Group. This Counsel role is available on either a full or reduced schedule, is a salaried position designed to be flexible on location, and is a fully “remote” position with access to any of our local offices as needed. This is an exceptional and rare opportunity for experienced lawyers who do not seek to be a partner or in a partner-track position, but who want to continue to do sophisticated legal work with direct client involvement. Candidates willing to commit to at least 1650 billable hours per year preferred.

The Day-To-Day:
As Counsel, candidates must be very comfortable handling a single-plaintiff employment arbitrations from start to finish with minimal oversight. In this role, Counsel will routinely interface directly with clients and Firm partners, as well as provide litigation (arbitration) recommendations and develop defense strategy.

A Counsel will be primarily dedicated to a single client portfolio of employment work, handling arbitrations on a nationwide basis. You will become immersed in the business needs this client, and will be able to develop a deep knowledge of this client's preferences. As most work will be able to be handled virtually, the Counsel will be responsible for handling this client's work in a variety of states and jurisdictions, in addition to working directly with the relevant relationship partners to foster a stronger client relationship.

You Have:
  • 8+ years of increasingly responsible employment law experience, preferably on the defense side. Deposition experience (taking and defending) and confidence handling expert discovery are required.
  • Experience handling single plaintiff employment matters (litigation or arbitration) from initial stages through dispositive motion required. Familiarity with handling arbitration preparation and the arbitration hearing itself strongly preferred.
  • Top law firm experience.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Stellar analytical skills; and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be licensed in the state where you reside.
