Nationwide Paving Experts is looking for an In-House Counsel

Summary:
We are searching for a talented In-House Attorney, who will report to the General Counsel. This person will perform a wide variety of corporate and litigation related tasks. This position will be based in Nationwide Paving Experts new corporate headquarters in Villa Park, IL. A high level of confidentiality is required.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents such as real estate leases, construction contracts, service contracts, and SaaS agreements.
  • Compile discovery documents and draft and answer discovery requests for litigation matters.
  • Process and investigate new personal injury, workers' compensation, and property damage claims in conjunction with Safety Department.
  • Research real estate ownership records and prepare mechanics liens and related documents.
  • Compile and review M&A due diligence, and perform research and tasks needed to integrate newly acquired businesses into company systems.
  • Maintain and renew annual filings and business and contractor's licenses for multiple entities.
  • Maintain, and update as needed, all legal forms dispensed by the Company.
  • Other duties, as assigned, on an as needed basis.

What Experience you'll bring to us
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois, or be eligible for Admission on Motion.
  • Minimum 3 years of law firm and/or in-house experience working with construction contracts and other commercial contracts, corporate law, personal injury, workers compensation and M&A. Applicants are encouraged to apply even if they do not have experience in each of those areas of law.
  • Capable of handling a wide range of legal issues that confront a legal department in many areas of law such as construction, employment, insurance coverage, personal injury, workers compensation, M&A, and corporate governance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts including outside attorneys, insurance adjusters, C-Suite and Board, other departments, customers and claimants.
  • Construction experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Prior experience with legal practice management software and contract review software.
  • Create a positive experience in all interactions with employees and vendors
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have a sense of urgency and a natural ability to work in a fast-paced and growing environment.
  • Must be comfortable with a hands-on environment of high communication.
