Job Summary: The role will assist in various corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives. The position works closely with SVP, C-Suite, and Executive Leadership to advise the Company on various corporate strategies and their implementation. The role will be actively involved in complex business transactions, negotiating critical contracts, troubleshooting project issues, and resolving claims on behalf of the Company. The position will participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures, programs, and provides continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications of all matters.

Essential Functions:
  • Analyze, review, and draft commercial construction related contracts (including but not limited to, customer construction contracts, subcontracts, consultant agreements, design agreements, real estate and commercial leases, and other miscellaneous agreements).
  • Provide legal advice and opinions regarding major business transactions, including acquisitions, major projects, joint ventures, and real estate transactions/development opportunities.
  • Service internal and external clients on key legal developments in construction, employment, contract, compliance, risk, and other areas of key concern to the Company's success, profitability, and strategic goals.
  • Manage outside counsel regarding litigation filed against or on behalf of the Company.
  • Advise and create strategy regarding various real-estate development opportunities.
  • Assist in providing advice to executives and managers on matters of legal compliance and risk so that the Company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise on legal aspects of the Company's governance and regarding current and future business structures and legal entities.
  • Assist management with employment law concerns, contracts, claims, and creating policies.
  • Create and manage business legal reports and correspondence, and effectively presents information to senior management, project teams, and departments.
  • Advises on and participates, as appropriate, to inquiries from regulatory agencies and business partners.
  • Helps to avoid, respond to, negotiate, and resolve disputes.

Qualifications:
  • Active law license required in either New York or North Carolina
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in either construction law, construction litigation, real estate, or corporate law.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a keen sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Ability to take a technical complex matters and communicate them simply & effectively.
  • Must possess a strong initiative, and excellent management, communication, teamwork, delegation, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Thoughtful attention to detail and quality of work product, with the ability to work independently and determine creative solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to effectively build, train, and manage staff.
