Capital One's Financial Services (“FS”) Division is a leader and pioneer in the auto-finance industry. To support this expanding business, the FS Legal Team seeks to add an additional Senior Counsel to serve as business counsel and join our fantastic team.As a member of the FS Legal Team, you will partner with a passionate and customer-centric business that is fueling the future of one of the nation's largest indirect auto-finance companies and has set its sights beyond the auto industry. You will help to identify risks and problem solve alongside a team of world-class professionals charged with designing and deploying strategies that ultimately impact the bottom line. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing strategic legal advice on a variety of complex issues and topics
- Translating laws, regulations, and legal requirements into clear and focused guardrails
- Building relationships and collaborating with business stakeholders in wide-ranging roles
- Understanding business needs and providing appropriate solutions to reach the desired goals
- Working collaboratively with other members of the Legal Department to provide advice in a consistent, well-reasoned manner
Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
- At least 5 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in advising technology or financial-services companies
- 3+ years of experience working as an attorney on tech, data, marketing, or product development
- Experience advising companies on matters of regulatory compliance, including with UDAAP, the FCRA, GLBA, ECOA, and TILA
