Our law firm is seeking a Family Attorney who can assist clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including Divorce, Legitimation, child custody, and child support issues. You will have the opportunity to learn from senior associates and litigation associates on legal issues and will provide legal counsel to existing clients.You'll also be responsible for performing legal research, drafting documents, and keeping client files up to date. Responsibilities:
- Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
- Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed
- Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgements and orders for a high volume of cases
- Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
- Keep client files properly organized and up to date
Qualifications:
- Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required
- Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
- Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants
- Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high
