Description:

The Data Strategy, Security & Privacy team is seeking an associate with about 2-4 years of legal experience in cybersecurity and data privacy counseling, compliance and transactional matters. We are particularly looking for someone with a strong interest in:
  • advising clients on compliance with cybersecurity and data privacy law
  • preparing public-facing consumer disclosures and internal company policies and procedures
  • drafting, revising and negotiating data and technology contracts with service providers and commercial customers
  • advising M&A deal teams and other firm colleagues on cybersecurity and data privacy matters; and
  • addressing client needs in related fields including digital marketing, intellectual property and artificial intelligence

This position may be filled in New York City, Colorado or California. In accordance with the New York City Human Rights Law, the Colorado Equal Pay Act, and the California Pay Transparency Law, the pay range for this position in New York City, Colorado, and California is $225,000 - 295,000/yr. This range is specific to these three locations and may not be applicable to other locations. An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience.

Job Requirements:
  • About 2-4 years legal experience
  • Admission to bar in state of practice
  • At least foundational knowledge in federal, state and foreign cybersecurity and data privacy laws, such as CCPA and similar state laws, HIPAA, GLBA and the EU GDPR
  • Experience providing legal advice on cybersecurity and data privacy issues, which can come in the form of advisory and compliance experience and/or transactional work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to draft materials in business-friendly language
  • Technology experience or skills helpful (e.g., technical degree or experience, software development, employment at/advising tech companies as an attorney or prior to law school)
  • Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills, ability to execute and collaborate within a cross-office hybrid working environment, innovative thinking, project management skills, and the desire to be part of a high-growth, diverse team
  • Commitment to continue developing proficiency in cybersecurity and data privacy laws and skills
  • CIPP/US certification preferred
