What Are We Looking For?An American Cybersecurity Company is looking for an experienced leader to join our An American Cybersecurity Company legal team as a Director of Product. This role is critical in providing strategic legal guidance on technology, product development and intellectual property in a fast paced, high-growth environment. . In this role you will build and manage a team of attorneys, work closely with cross-functional leaders to integrate legal considerations into all stages of product development, from ideation to launch. This position is essential in supporting the company's growth objectives by ensuring that our products are compliant, innovative, and aligned with our strategic vision.
What Will You Do?
Strategic Planning & Leadership - Develop, pragmatically document and implement short, mid and long term legal strategies to support the company's product roadmap and development and provide practical and actionable advice on evolving legal issues related to technology, products and intellectual property. Effectively advise, inform and partner with legal leadership team on key objectives.
- Team Management - Build, lead and develop a team of attorneys, ensuring high performance and professional growth and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Cross-functional Collaboration - Partner with internal clients throughout the technology and product development organization, advise on new products and collaborate cross functionally to embed legal considerations into product design and strategy.
- Risk and Privacy Management - Proactively identify and mitigate legal risks associated with product development, including intellectual property, export control, data security, and AI.
- Contract and Negotiation Strategy - Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex OEM and technology integration agreements.
- Training and Education - Design and deliver training programs for product and engineering teams to enhance their understanding of key legal issues.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school or equivalent, with an active license to practice law in a U.S. state.
- A minimum of 12+ years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in the technology sector.
- Excellent leadership, management, and team-building skills.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to influence and drive change across cross-functional teams.
- Adaptable, innovative, and comfortable working in a fast-changing environment, with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
Preferred Experience:
- Cybersecurity and/or AI experience
- Strong knowledge of intellectual property law and experience with patent portfolio management
