Under general direction the Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel (Deputy General Counsel) works closely with and advises the General Counsel on a variety of matters including administrative, policy and legal issues. The Deputy General Counsel coordinates and generally oversees legal advocacy matters handled by ALRB regional offices to ensure quality and consistency. The Deputy General Counsel oversees and works closely with the Regional Directors to ensure that all legal matters in the regions have adequate coverage and that the Regional Directors and staff are correctly implementing applicable policies, procedures and legal strategies. The Deputy General Counsel supervises and coordinates the work of other General Counsel program staff and serves as lead on various legal matters. The Deputy General Counsel provides guidance to and reviews the work product of the Attorney IIIs and other attorneys in the General Counsel program. The Deputy General Counsel also represents the General Counsel and the Regional Directors before the Board, Superior Courts and in a variety of policy and outreach matters with stakeholders and other governmental entities.

In Addition to Evaluating Each Candidate's Relative Ability, as Demonstrated by Quality and Breadth of Experience, the Following Factors Will Provide the Basis for Competitively Evaluating Each Candidate:
  • Understanding of And/or Experience with Issues Impacting Low-Wage Immigrant Workers Such as Farmworkers, and The Agricultural Community
  • Labor Law Experience
  • Familiarity with The Agricultural Labor Relations Act
