Duties: Under the direction of the Deputy Director, of the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control or Division Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, serves at the Enforcement bureau's point of contact on external task force initiatives. Trains NJSP and municipalities on NJABC title 33 statues and regulations; conducts external trainings including courses at the Attorney General's Advocacy Institute; NJICLE, NLLEA, NJSP Recruit Classes, NJ Chiefs of Police. Handles the prosecution of disciplinary proceedings against licensees who violate ABC laws and regulations. Manage, supervise, train and mentor, and assign the staff of the ABC Enforcement Bureau. Handle the most complex Enforcement cases. Work collaboratively with the Enforcement DAsG, as well as the Investigations Bureau, and members of the Licensed Industry. Solves problems, performs methodically researches and analyzes. Negotiate enforcement actions with tact. Draft, review and edit enforcement actions. Make recommendations on settlement agreements. Provide legal advice and suggestion to the Director. Supervise, mentor and train the Enforcement Bureau DAsG, and support staff. Litigate matters in a competent and strategic manner. Review and carefully evaluate any legal decisions which may impact the Division's response to any future outcomes. Maintain high cases loads with efficiency. Track statistics to ensure measurable outcomes. Network with others in the industry to build relationships. Provide feedback to employees in productive means. Provides confidential advice to the Director and other members of the ABC. Handles eCATS , EPARS and DAG Evals. This position may, on occasion, require non-traditional work hours, on an as needed basis, including evenings and/or weekends on short deadlines for certain assignments during peak seasons, with or without advance noticeRequirements:
- Education: Admission to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in the State of New Jersey is required.
- Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a practicing attorney. Two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
- License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
- Preference: Preference will be given to attorneys with enforcement and/or investigatory experience and experience managing Deputy Attorney Generals.
