Description:
I'm a solo criminal defense attorney with 20 years of experience in criminal and civil litigation, seeking to team up with another attorney in a collaborative arrangement that supports both of us in achieving better work-life balance. The ideal scenario would involve you covering my cases during the time I plan to take off (approximately 70 days annually between early June and mid-August), and I would cover your cases during other parts of the year. This setup allows you to maintain your solo practice while benefiting from mutual support when you want to take extended time off. This is not a traditional employment position but rather a reciprocal arrangement where we cover each other's cases. The work would involve handling a range of criminal defense matters, including legal research, writing, courtroom appearances, and trial work. Candidates must be proficient in all stages of trial advocacy, reliable, professional, and genuinely interested in criminal defense litigation.
This is a great opportunity if you're seeking flexibility and collaboration in your practice without the demands of a traditional firm environment. Compensation will ideally be in the form of reciprocal case coverage, not a salary or hourly wage.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Member of the Illinois Bar
- Proficiency in all stages of trial advocacy
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Reliable, professional, and genuinely interested in criminal defense litigation
