We seek candidates who enjoy working independently, are highly resourceful, have exceptional communications skills and are able to balance competing demands in a positive and client-friendly manner. We want collaborators who will help structure deals with business counterparts and, hopefully, contribute some humor to our legal slack channel. What You'll Do:
  • Exercise strong judgement to advise The Trade Desk team and contribute to the overall success of the business;
  • Structure, draft, negotiate and review a wide variety of commercial agreements, including master service agreements, supplier agreements, and various other agreements with strategic partners;
  • Provide strategic advice to the global marketing team on legal and regulatory issues;
  • Oversee major global client relationships;
  • Continually improve our legal processes to help us scale globally with a consistent but locally relevant approach;
  • Provide practical advice on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures and company policies in a risk-tolerant, but compliance-oriented environment;
  • Identify, research, analyze, and advise teams on a wide range of relevant legal topics, issues, and risk (e.g., licensing, intellectual property, commercial, data security, and privacy law);
  • Distill and communicate complex legal concepts in layman's terms.

Who You Are:
  • 3+ years of experience working in an internationally/nationally-recognized law firm or in-house legal department (a mix of law firm and in-house experience is preferred);
  • Admitted to practice in New York or the ability to register as In-House Counsel in New York;
  • Juris doctorate;
  • Excellent legal skills, including substantive experience in structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements;
  • Effective communicator, with the ability to interact with internal and external constituents at all levels;
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced environment, while juggling competing, time-sensitive demands;
  • Strong business sense and ability to exercise good business judgement;
  • Experience working on marketing matters a plus;
  • Background in advertising and/or digital media is a plus;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (sense of humor is a big plus).
