You will be a key member of our dynamic and collaborative legal team and a trusted advisor to the product and engineering teams, taking the lead on all things open source at one of the world's largest developers, contributors and users of open source software. You will also have opportunities to support and advance Cloudera's overall product strategies by engaging in broader product counseling, IP and export matters. You will be a key contributor to the success of our business.

As a Corporate Counsel, Open Source, you will:
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and various go-to-market teams to help ensure that Cloudera complies with the open source license requirements when we use, distribute, and contribute open source software
  • Work with internal stakeholders, including senior leaders, to shape the evolution of Cloudera's open source strategy and compliance practices
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for review and compliance matters relating to open source and other third party software licenses
  • Lead the development, implementation, and optimization of open source software and other third party software license compliance policies and procedures
  • Drive education and training programs relating to open source and general license compliance
  • Guide and support Cloudera's commercial legal team on questions related to open source and other product related licensing matters, for both inbound and outbound transactions
  • Help to support and advance Cloudera's overall product strategies, by engaging in broader product counseling, IP, and export matters

We are excited about you if you have:
  • J.D. and a member of local state bar
  • 4 to 7 years of legal experience, with deep working knowledge of open source licensing gained from at least 2 years of hands-on experience analyzing and reviewing open source compliance issues
  • Experience working at a fast-paced technology company advising product and engineering teams on compliance with legal requirements
  • Motivated self-starter, who is solution oriented and enjoys diving deep into the complexities of products and underlying technologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams, assess ambiguous situations, and provide clear legal guidance in a manner that is understandable by lawyers and non-lawyers alike
  • Understanding of software product development lifecycle, processes, technologies, and tools
  • Experience or interest in working with other areas of compliance, such as export control
