We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our dynamic, collaborative and forward-thinking team of surety claim professionals in our US Surety offices.

Claims Counsel, US Surety
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, US Surety Claims, the Claims Counsel, US Surety will be responsible for the management of claims within the Surety line of business. With a law degree from a recognized university and 3+ years of experience specializing in surety claims and/or construction law and/or commercial law, you will be responsible for all aspects of the claims process including:
  • Coverage evaluations;
  • Setting claim reserves;
  • Reviewing, interpreting, negotiating and drafting agreements;
  • Responding to principals, agents and claimants;
  • Litigation management;
  • Negotiation of settlements;
  • Authorizing payments as required;
  • Providing claims updates and support to the team of surety underwriters; and
  • Providing business support to the team of surety underwriters, including drafting, interpreting and negotiating bond forms and security documents such as indemnity agreements, co-surety agreements, non-disclosure agreements and subordination agreements.

You will also be responsible for the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of claims directly and in conjunction with internal and external counsel, claims adjusters and consultants.

Qualifications:
  • JD with 3+ years of relevant surety claims and/or construction law and/or commercial law;
  • Licensed insurance adjuster or ability to obtain insurance adjuster licenses in all required states;
  • Ability to travel, as needed; and
  • Ability to work remotely, as required.

The salary range is expected to be $150,000 to $175,000 plus bonus within the terms of the company plan. Trisura offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401(k) with company match and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
