We are hiring for an Experienced Claims Counsel (Title Claims) minimum 3 years' experience, full remote position. Alliant National Title offers:

Position Summary: Claims counsel manages claims involving title insurance policies and other products. As claims counsel, the individual is responsible to investigate, analyze, provide coverage determination, manage retained counsel, and handle all aspects of a claim to a final resolution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.
  • Conduct thorough investigation of claims filed with the company
  • Examine title and develop strategy for resolution of claim
  • Determine need to retain defense counsel to defend the company or it's insured in litigation and engage outside counsel with required approvals
  • Direct and supervise litigation
  • Evaluate liability and establish settlement and expense reserves
  • Negotiate with claimant / opposing counsel / third parties for resolution
  • Attend mediations and other required court appearances / processes
  • Resolve claims that do not require the defense of the company or of the insured through investigation, corrective documents, negotiation, or payment
  • Draft agreements and corrective documents
  • Review and approve invoices for costs and attorneys' fees
  • Evaluate claims for recovery
  • Draft educational and training materials for seminars and present at seminars

Education/Experience:
J.D. Degree from accredited college or university; three to four years related experience and/or training in title insurance or real estate industry preferred.

Language Ability:
Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.

Reasoning Ability:
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Suite and internet research

Bar License
