Why This Role Matters
This is not a back-office research position.
As a Civil Litigation Associate at BLG, you will be fully involved in every stage of litigation—from early case strategy through discovery, depositions, motions, and court appearances. You will work directly under a senior litigation attorney and managing partners, with the support of a legal assistant and paralegal team.
We are looking for someone who is driven to learn, willing to work, and invested in doing excellent work for clients who are trusting us with some of the hardest moments of their lives.
What You'll Do:
Litigation & Advocacy
- Handle an active civil litigation caseload under supervision of senior attorneys
- Appear regularly in court for hearings, case management conferences, and motions
- Take and defend depositions with guidance and preparation
- Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and legal memoranda
- Participate meaningfully in case strategy, preparation, and execution
- Communicate directly with clients in a clear, compassionate, and professional manner
- Understand the human impact of the cases you handle
- Take responsibility for moving cases forward efficiently and thoughtfully
- Collaborate closely with senior attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants
- Contribute to a culture of preparation, accountability, and support
- Be open to feedback, mentorship, and continuous development
Who You Are:

- Have 2+ years of civil litigation experience
- Confident appearing in court and taking depositions
- Take pride in preparation and follow-through

- Want to grow into increased responsibility and leadership over time
- Experience in employment, personal injury, or trauma-informed litigation is a plus, but not required. Defense experience welcomed.
