The Attorney Supervisor will:
- Supervise the work of full-time attorneys in the assigned jurisdiction(s);
- Recruit, retain, train, advise & mentor the attorney staff;
- Serve as legal advisor & to advocate for the Health Care Authority (HCA);
- Assist the non-supervisory attorney staff to provide & arrange all essential legal services required by the Child Support Services Division (CSSD);
- Handle the most complex legal work & represent CSSD in administrative, district appellate court hearings;
- Serve as an expert legal advisor to HCA / CSSD & to provide direction to other attorneys.
The Attorney Supervisor is responsible for:
- Ensuring that court dockets and hearings are adequately handled;
- Providing training, advice and mentorship to all non-supervisory attorneys within their assigned jurisdiction;
- Meeting regularly with Child Support Services Division (CSSD) managing & staff attorneys to discuss how to improve and streamline the legal process & exchanging ideas regarding how to better serve CSSD customers;
- Maintaining regular communications with General Counsel & Regional Managing Attorney regarding contested cases, complaints, disciplinary actions and other issues;
- Attending child support hearings in assigned jurisdiction(s) to observe CSSD attorneys and staff in court and/or administrative hearings;
- Providing any advice or assistance in the event there is a shortage of coverage that cannot be resolved due to absences, illnesses, etc. of non-supervisory attorneys;
- Assisting at the court or administrative hearings by meeting with customers, opposing counsel and/or representing the agency at the hearing;
- Consulting with Regional Managing Attorneys and Deputy General Counsel to discuss the need for legal representation at Fair Hearings when child support is at issue;
- Assisting CSSD Regional Managing Attorney and Deputy General Counsel.

- Others who request HCA / CSSD services, including other states and countries pursuant to the Hague Treaty.
Ideal Candidate:
The Ideal Candidate has experience:
- Supervising;
- Working for entities with a high-volume caseload;
- Practicing family law:
- Working in child support enforcement.;
- Representing governmental entities in court/administrative proceedings;
- Working with pro se parties.
Minimum Qualification:
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law and five (5) years of experience in the practice of law. Must be licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license (Rules 15-301.1 and 15-301.2 NMRA).
