A Government Entity's, Glendale State Contracts Legal team is seeking a motivated Attorney to join our exceptional legal team. At A Government Entity, we represent the insured employers and various State Agencies of California, handling challenging workers' compensation-related issues, including subrogation. As an Attorney with us, you'll have the opportunity to make real impact by handling, defending, and litigating cases. You'll be at the forefront of depositions, administrative hearings, and court appearances, ensuring justice is served to our clients.

The Attorney serves under the authority of the Assistant Chief Counsel.

Your Role:
As a vital member of our team, you'll enjoy a diverse and fulfilling role. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating closely with internal and external clients
  • Drafting compelling pleadings and correspondences
  • Conducting thorough discovery
  • Skillfully negotiating and drafting settlements
  • Making confident court appearances, including trials

You'll find yourself navigating a wide range of venues, from the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board to California courts and various administrative forums. In addition to handling cases, you'll have the opportunity to engage in "project" work, such as providing training, taking on specialized assignments, and coordinating complex litigation involving multiple parties and issues.

These positions can be filled in the following locations: Humboldt, Solano, Riverside, Los Angeles, Shasta, Alameda, Sonoma, San Joaquin, Fresno, Kern, Santa Clara, Orange, Sacramento, Ventura, Monterey, San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Diego, and San Luis Obispo.

Working Conditions:
To be considered, you must provide a fully completed STD 678 state application and resume via CalCareers. Resumes submitted in lieu of the STD 678 may not be accepted. Completed STD 678 must include duties performed, start and end dates, and hours worked per week for each position held.

Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by A Government Entity.

Candidates must reside in California to be eligible for this appointment.

Remote Work with Local Impact:
This position offers the flexibility of remote work. However, to facilitate local hearings, we seek candidates located in the Los Angeles area. Reimbursement for local travel will be provided within the allowable mile radius.

Special Requirements:
The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

The Glendale State Contracts Legal team is composed of 2 legal units consisting of a total of 18 attorneys. Located at the heart of the LA area, Glendale boasts a vibrant and exciting office location. Our attorneys will be required to appear at the Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and Marina del Rey WCAB's and take pride in working collaboratively to ensure a robust representation of A Government Entity's state agency clients at these challenging venues.

New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.
