About the Office:The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Inspector General (OIG) is pleased to offer a reimbursable 6-month detail opportunity to perform employment law work on behalf of DOJ OIG management. This detail is open to attorneys who are currently employed in the federal Inspector General community in the series 0905.
Job Description:
Detail Description: The ideal detailee candidate will have substantial experience practicing employment law, including before administrative tribunals (e.g., MSPB, EEOC). The detailee will be expected to act as the principal attorney in charge of the preparation and presentation of a case or cases on behalf of DOJ OIG management before administrative tribunals and in connection with ongoing employment law investigations. The OGC function, generally, is to provide legal advice and counsel on a broad range of topics to the DOJ Inspector General and to OIG management and staff.
Mission: The OIG in the DOJ is a statutorily created independent entity whose mission is to detect and deter waste, fraud, abuse, and misconduct in the Department of Justice, and to promote economy and efficiency in the Department's operations.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction). GS-14 applicants must possess 2.5 or more years of post-J. D. legal experience, 1 of which must be at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. GS-15 applicants must possess 4 or more years of post-J. D. legal experience, 1 of which must be at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level.
Applicants must be currently employed as an attorney in the federal Inspector General community. Applicants must also have the support of their supervisor and their Inspector General.
