The Opportunity:
Join the group of attorneys and paralegals who provide legal counsel to the product teams at An American Multinational Computer Software Company that develop and market our best-selling offering: Creative Cloud, focusing on our Photoshop and Lightroom products. Our creative customers love our products, and they use them to make inspiring photos, art, videos, commercial products, and marketing pieces. We are seeking a hardworking and high-energy lawyer with a positive attitude to support Photoshop's and Lightroom's product and business teams. You will work closely with product management, engineering, business strategy, and marketing teams, as well as colleagues in Legal, to provide counseling on a range of legal topics. You will report to the Senior Managing Counsel supporting the business and will help advance our clients' business objectives while managing legal and brand/reputational risk. Ideally, you will be based in San Jose or San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, or New York, NY.

What You'll Do:
  • Collaborate with An American Multinational Computer Software Company business teams on the review of products, business strategies, and initiatives to assess legal compliance and provide practical advice.
  • Draft and negotiate all types of technology licensing agreements - both in-bound and out-bound licenses and partnership agreements.
  • Support and build positive relationships with our product development teams.
  • Coordinate with subject matter leads in An American Multinational Computer Software Company's Legal Department, including privacy, antitrust, and intellectual property attorneys.
  • Develop and deliver materials and trainings to various internal groups, including engineering, program management, and sales legal.

What You Need to Succeed:
  • 6+ years of relevant legal experience (e.g., software and online services industry experience).
  • Proficient at negotiating and drafting various intellectual property agreements (including in-bound and out-bound technology licenses, development agreements, services agreements, terms of use for online services and software, etc.).
  • Expertise in privacy and data security issues and compliance (experience with privacy by design is preferred).
  • Prior experience with user-generated content services and mobile app development preferred.
  • Technical background or a geek-level interest in software products and development preferred.
  • A flexible, business-friendly collaborator who can think creatively and enjoys working with technical issues.
  • Candidate must possess a sense of humor and enjoy working on a team and with people at all levels in the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A commitment to provide high quality and timely legal advice, and flexibility to tackle different types of products and services and related work.
  • Flexibility to work with colleagues, clients, and others in time zones other than where the position is based.
  • Ability to exercise common sense to provide practical advice; must be a creative problem solver and have good business instincts.
