Job Summary:
As an Associate Attorney at GFI, you will contribute significantly to our mission of protecting and empowering clients seeking legal status in the United States. This role involves maintaining and updating case files, coordinating legal strategies, preparing case filings, and conducting extensive legal research. Your expertise will help ensure our clients receive comprehensive legal support and uphold our commitment to justice and outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update cases and correspondences.
  • Coordinate case and legal strategies with team members.
  • Prepare and manage various case filings and ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Conduct attorney-level review and edits of application submissions to USCIS.
  • Research unique legal issues by identifying applicable statutes and judicial and agency decisions.
  • Stay informed of legislative changes that may affect immigration law.
  • Develop solutions to complex legal questions.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned to support our mission.

Requirements and Skills:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar license in good standing in any U.S. state.
  • 2-5 years of attorney experience in general immigration law, with specific expertise in:
    • Family and humanitarian-based petitions.
    • Asylum and removal defense.
    • Crimmigration.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability with work schedules.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in reading and writing English.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
