About the role:
Are you a litigation attorney with 2–3 years of experience looking to join a collaborative and fast-paced law firm? Our Bountiful, Utah-based firm specializes in business and defamation law, and we are seeking a full-time Associate Litigation Attorney to work on-site with our team. In this role, you will manage a dynamic caseload and work closely with experienced attorneys, gaining hands-on experience and opportunities for professional growth. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a Caseload: Handle approximately 30–40 active litigation matters from start to finish, ensuring each case progresses efficiently through pleadings, discovery, and trial or settlement.
• Client Consultations: Conduct initial consultations with potential clients to evaluate their legal issues, answer questions, and advise on possible strategies for their business or defamation-related matters.
• Legal Document Preparation: Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests/responses with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Court Appearances: Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, motions, depositions, mediations, and trial preparations. Advocate effectively on behalf of clients in both settlement negotiations and courtroom settings.
• Case Strategy & Collaboration: Work closely with senior attorneys and support staff to develop case strategies. Prepare for trials or hearings as a team, sharing insights and collaborating in a positive, team-oriented environment.
• Legal Research: Perform thorough legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and legal precedents in business and defamation law to support case strategy and pleadings.
• Compliance & Case Management: Maintain organized case files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with all court rules and procedures. Keep clients updated on case status and promptly address their questions or concerns.

Qualifications:

• Education & Bar Admission: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in the Utah State Bar (required).
• Experience: 2–3 years of litigation experience in a law firm setting, with exposure to civil litigation. Experience in business litigation or defamation law is a strong plus.
• Caseload Management: Proven ability to effectively manage a heavy caseload of legal matters simultaneously. Excellent organizational and time management skills are a must.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. Comfortable conducting professional client consultations and conveying complex legal concepts in a clear, client-friendly manner.
• Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset. Able to work collaboratively with colleagues in a cooperative and supportive environment, while also handling tasks independently.
• Analytical Skills: Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented in reviewing documents, identifying legal issues, and crafting legal arguments.
