Summary of Position:
The Associate Legal Counsel serves to provide a variety of legal services for Campus Crusade for Christ/Cru ministry groups and subsidiaries while developing legal specialization and experience in one or more identified legal.
The Kind of Work You'll be Doing:
- Develop legal specialization and expertise in assigned legal area(s). With minimal oversight, research, analyze, write and advise on legal issues and matters. Develop proficiency in issue spotting and understanding risks.
- In consultation with more senior attorneys, provide counsel and support to ministry constituents and ministry leadership to assure compliance with applicable laws and protect ministry against legal liability.
- Research, analyze, and interpret proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations as pertinent to ministry function.
- Synthesize research findings and provide analysis to General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, other Attorneys and ministry leadership on relevant legal and policy issues.
- Assess, identify, and address issues of legal risk in specified practice of law.
- Continue to develop legal skills and maintain knowledge of practice area. Maintain knowledge of existing laws, statutes, regulations and case law as pertinent to ministry function.
- Write, review and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles and other documents.
- Write and administer corporate governance documents, business contracts and other legal documents with approval from supervising attorney(s).
- Provide work direction to the paralegals and legal specialists, including planning, assigning, and directing work.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of a Graduate Degree; law school degree in the practice of general law required.
- 3-5 years of experience in a law firm or in-house counsel environment in the practice of corporate and/or nonprofit law.
- Must be licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction in the United States.
- Must maintain good standing with the state bar(s) of license and comply with CLE requirements for state of license and Florida, as applicable.
