Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP is seeking an associate with two to four years of general litigation or administrative controversy experience to work with the State and Local Tax (“SALT”) practice in its Sacramento office. While a SALT background or LLM in tax is helpful, neither is required.

The associate will join a prestigious cross-office practice that advises and represents a broad range of Fortune 100 clients and industry-leading companies on a full spectrum of state and local tax litigation, consulting, planning, and policy matters. A description of Pillsbury's SALT practice can be found here. The practice frequently works on groundbreaking legal issues, including legal questions of first impression and constitutional issues.

A successful candidate will have an excellent academic background. Exceptional writing and communication skills are critical. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills required. Candidates must enjoy working as part of a team and be able to take immediate responsibility for projects and matters in an active and growing practice. Just as importantly, the candidate must be committed to developing and growing the practice and their expertise in a fast-paced group that provides the highest level of client service. Ideal candidate is a self-starter, confident, hardworking, personable, efficient and detail-oriented.

Appellate experience would be particularly valuable. Must be admitted in CA and in good standing. Current or prior employment with an Am Law 100 firm is a plus. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.
