*New Business Ventures Program, Associate General Counsel

Ensign Services, Inc. seeks an experienced attorney and leader committed to supporting post-acute care businesses that serve an expanding senior population. This position will provide risk management, litigation, regulatory and business entity support to businesses focusing on post-acute healthcare services. The role will be based in our in our San Juan Capistrano, California Service Center.

About the company:
Ensign Services, Inc., provides centralized accounting, payroll, human resources, information technology, legal, risk management and other such services to facilities and agencies in the post-acute care industry. Currently, ESI provides these services by way of a consulting services agreement, and supports skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, mobile radiology, medical transportation, respiratory therapy services, and in house dialysis services in California, Arizona, Texas, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Kansas and South Carolina.

About the Opportunity:

The successful candidate will join our outstanding legal and risk management team to handle legal aspects of the business and operational issues that arise through the operation of the client businesses. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Advise and assist field personnel in the evaluation of regulatory issues and directives impacting their business operation
  • Draft, file and argue hearings and briefs before regulatory bodies in the various states where clients operate
  • Assist with pre-claim evaluation and investigation of claims, concerns or litigation
  • Manage litigation in concert with assigned outside counsel, including participation in discovery, case strategy discussion, motion practice, mediation, and arbitration/trial
  • Be a culture leader who can model and teach our unique culture across the organization
  • Provide employment law support to the operations and New Venture leadership
  • Communicate clients' tactical and strategic legal needs to other Service Center leaders
  • Proactively help the Service Center and its clients manage legal risk associated with the operation of New Ventures

Professional qualifications:
  • A minimum of three years of litigation experience in either a law firm or in-house counsel setting
  • Experience in preparing and managing regulatory appeals
  • Experience in litigating general/professional negligence claims, including but not limited to discovery management and motion practice
  • J.D. from an accredited institution; admitted in CA, AZ, TX or NV
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with a strong team orientation
  • Ability to give clear direction and produce outstanding results
  • Exceptional presentation, writing and communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and executive presence

Ensign Services offers an attractive compensation package including a competitive base salary and benefits, plus eligibility for bonuses.
