A Global Monitoring Company is looking for a dynamic Associate General Counsel to provide legal advice and support across all aspects of its business including product development, constellation operations, U.S. and international government contracting, supply chain risk, and commercial transactions. Your responsibilities are expected to be wide ranging, spanning from transactional and corporate matters to contract and regulatory compliance. A successful candidate will offer hands-on prior experience working directly with operations, design, and contracting teams, as well as experience working with domestic and foreign customers and U.S. regulators. Experience in the space and/or the defense sectors is a benefit.

The position will report to the VP of Legal. An ideal candidate will be near either Herndon, VA headquarters but we may also consider remote candidates in certain states.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide counsel on matters ranging from contract analysis and interpretation for commercial, U.S. Government, and international agreements and cost accounting compliance to corporate governance, finance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and counsel A Global Monitoring Company on the federal and state regulatory landscape affecting the Company, which includes regulations impacting A Global Monitoring Company as a satellite manufacturer and U.S. Government contractor.
  • Perform risk assessments related to supply chain and manufacturing capabilities, proposed initiatives, corporate activities and industry developments, recommending alternative courses of action to achieve business objectives while limiting liability and risk.
  • Support the VP of Legal in negotiating and managing complex policies, contracts and commercial agreements, including licensing and software contracts and strategic partnerships/teaming arrangements.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate degree with at least seven (7) years' experience.
  • At least three (3) years in the space or defense sectors.
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Strong academic credentials and the highest level of integrity and ethics.
  • Experience negotiating and drafting complex government and commercial contracts.
  • Strong work ethic, detail oriented, highly organized, and demonstrated ability to multitask and balance competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong understanding of audience.
  • An active Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with managing supply chain risk and manufacturing compliance programs.
  • Experience with US government contracting (FAR/DFARS) and supporting U.S. Government programs.
  • International contracting and negotiation experience.
  • Prior In-House experience, space or defense industry company.
  • Experience working with NOAA, FCC and/or NASA for satellite licensing and regulation.
