The Associate Corporate Counsel is responsible for assisting the General Counsel to ensure that Meyer is always operating within the requirements of the law, offering counsel in response to requests for legal assistance, proactively identifying applicable laws and providing guidance for compliance, and advising the Company to limit risk and liability exposure while supporting and enabling business activities. Must be comfortable with handling a wide variety of business-related legal matters.
Preferred Experience:
2+ years of experience in litigation, commercial and/or corporate/transactional business legal practice.

- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice in the State of Indiana, or in a State with reciprocity with Indiana, and able to get licensed within one year.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Grow in knowledge and familiarity of the business of the Company
- Manage litigation, including guiding and participating in all aspects of litigation from pre-litigation to final resolution
- Review and draft contracts, identify and address risks and liability exposures in contractual relationships and assist to resolve contractual disputes
- Stay current with regulatory and legislative developments in industry, business, and commercial spheres to identify future trends and risks affecting the Company
- Advise internal clients on compliance matters related to employment, transportation, and commercial regulations among other relevant areas of the law
- Assist internal clients in handling commercial disputes, collections and bankruptcies of suppliers or customers of the Company
- Perform legal research and analysis to provide advice and solutions to internal clients
- Identify potential legal risks associated with commercial transactions, contracts, and business plans
- Assist with due diligence for commercial transactions
- Documentation and record-keeping
- Prepare and file or oversee filing of necessary legal documents as required

- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Skilled in use of Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to perform legal research
- Understanding of general business practices and processes, either through education or practice
- Strong capabilities in investigation, research, and analysis of complex situations
- Experience working independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
- High level of integrity and ethics
- Maintain license to practice law
- Physical presence in a Meyer office location
