Description:
About the Position:- This is a Firm where we are all invested in the organization's growth. Team before self because we know that a rising tide floats all boats. As a professional, your value is more than client work, and your ideas and input toward the mission are welcomed, appreciated, and rewarded.
- Our organization's growth depends on doing excellent work for clients, first-rate client service, and striving to provide as much value as possible to each client relationship. This is a very forward-facing position. You will be in constant communication with clients and the face of our engagements, not confined to a support role or a back office.
- Your success on client engagements depends on your ability to be flexible, multi-task, and wear a variety of different hats. Clients generally come to us with one issue, but often have multiple challenges that get addressed during the course of their matters. Success is defined by what is best for the client given the resources that they have and by the results we are able to achieve.
- This is a remote/hybrid role with flexibility on location and working hours, though many of our clients are in the Pacific Time Zone. Our attorneys in the EST or CST time zones, generally start earlier and end earlier in the day. Our headquarters is in San Diego, and we try to get together in person at least 2-3 times yearly.
- Expected attorney output is roughly a nine-hour day (1750 annual billable hours), based on a 48-work week year and an 85% utilization rate.
- Through our A Tax Attorney: Your Way Program and Unlimited Vacation Time Off system, attorneys can design their workweek schedules. We maximize our people's flexibility and autonomy to meet the demands of the modern working world.
- We formally require at least 50 hours of professional learning annually and encourage our attorneys to be multi-disciplinary in their knowledge base.
- Based on our long-term vision, mission, and plan, there is an opportunity for significant compensation in the longer-term.
The ideal candidate:
- You must be autonomously willing to learn, grow, and improve.
- You must be a nice, positive, personable, and selfless person.
- You are not content with mediocrity or comfort. In the past, perhaps you have run circles around others around you.
- You really enjoy people and being part of a team.
- You really enjoy clients and client work. You are empathetic, provide amazing client services, and are driven to get them results.
- You are interesting and have a diversity of experiences that has contributed to your unique perspective.
- You have a minimum 3 years of experience in tax, M&A, corporate, or asset protection law, especially those experienced in working with high-net-worth clients and complex transactions. Knowledge of income tax mitigation structures and trusts is a plus.
- You are a licensed attorney, licensure in California is a plus, but not required.
- Your resume and your experience should demonstrate a track record of success in top-tier law firms, law schools, and other environments. It should indicate that you are growth-oriented and take on increasing challenges.
