We use the law to protect vulnerable individuals to right a wrong committed by those who violated their position of trust. We create precedential guideposts in civil-rights and elder-abuse cases to effectuate wise public policy to protect our communities. We creatively analyze and re-evaluate each client's case using the remedies offered in state federal, appellate, and Supreme courts. Key Attributes for Our New Attorney
  • Passionate about our Mission and aligned with our Core Values.
  • Probate-specific or civil litigation with for a minimum of 3 years experience required.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently without being micromanaged, once trained.
  • Compelling writer with experience drafting complaints/petitions/motions.
  • Excellent research, critical-thinking, and communication skills.

Our New Attorney's Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyze facts required to support establishing and then maintaining a protective proceeding such as a conservatorship, court-supervised trust, or guardianship.
  • Draft petitions, motions, Judicial Council forms, and memos about law and facts to ensure protection of a vulnerable ward and remedy past harm.
  • Meet with clients and witnesses and manage relationships with co- and opposing counsel.
  • Eventually appear in courts to argue contested motions/petitions and co-chair trials.
  • Join our efforts, above and beyond the billable hour, to create a new law firm model based on using the law to help others, to fulfill our firm's mission and ensure its sustainability.

First Three Months Our New Attorney Will Accomplish As Follows

  • Build your own day in terms of your short- and long-term priorities, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Participate in a 30, 60, and then 90-day performance review where we will review each other's strengths and weaknesses to devise best-practice approaches to dividing labor to manage our active cases and achieve excellent results for our deserving clients.
  • Draft over a dozen legal documents with mentoring to integrate your style, unique voice and expertise with our client-focused approach to achieve an excellent work product!
  • Craft and implement a strategic plan to manage at least two matters.
  • Draft documents to establish a conservatorship or to support probate-related petitions such as PC 850, 2650, 17200, etc. to protect vulnerable wards.
  • Master CLIO, online legal research, using our case-related paperless documents, and collaboration with our team and our cadre of colleagues to best serve our clients' needs.
  • Bill at least 400 hours in your first quarter to our probate or civil-rights clients toward the ultimate 1,400-hour annual billable minimum requirement for this position.
