About the role:Associate Attorneys provide comprehensive legal services to clients as a developing attorney in partnership with the firm's established shareholders. The ideal candidate will possess 4-5 years of work experience with a broad range of employment issues including workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. Litigation experience should include drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions. Experience taking and defending depositions, and conducting administrative hearings is a plus. Other responsibilities will include drafting workplace policies, conducting employee trainings, and providing day-to-day advice and counsel to employers.
Essential Functions:
- Research complex legal matters and provide sound advice.
- Draft, document, and otherwise author high quality written materials in support of client needs.
- Appear in various forums to represent clients, including but not limited to formal court appearances and administrative procedures.
- Collaborate with fellow attorneys and staff members within the office setting and through virtual connection.
- Appropriately assign support work to paralegals and legal assistants to further the needs of the clients.
- Present educational materials regarding latest developments within their area of expertise.
- Facilitate the development and learning of other associates, staff, and students, as applicable.
- Accurately and completely account for time spent supporting clients and the firm.
- Operate with autonomy while seeking support when necessary.
- Treat others with courtesy and respect at all times.
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Maine Bar admission and maintenance of good standing in jurisdictions as required by the firm
- Demonstrated ability to critically think, write, research and communicate.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
