Description:

Position Summary:
A Boutique Family Law Firm is seeking an attorney to join our firm. We primarily practice in the realm of family law (divorce, child custody, and other domestic matters presently make up the large majority of our business), but welcome applicants with experience in other areas and a drive to develop their own book of business. The ideal candidate has sufficient experience in family law to be able to manage their own cases.

However, this is a learning position! At A Boutique Family Law Firm, we strongly believe in mentoring as one of our core values. As an associate, you will have direct access to the firm's managing partner with time (up to half a day) specifically dedicated to you and your case load every week. We *want* you to ask questions, and management does NOT assume that you know everything about your chosen practice area.

We are a very technology forward firm. Work from home (or anywhere you feel like with an internet connection and a phone) is a regular occurrence and perk, but please expect to be in office regularly for at least the first couple of months as you learn our systems.

Culture fit will be as important, if not more, than your resume. You may be an amazing Harvard Law Review V100 tier attorney, but if what you need to love your job is being surrounded by mahogany and gold while wearing a pinstripe suit every day, we may not be a good fit. The ideal candidate will be ok with four letter words that get bleeped on the radio, joking about extremely serious topics, and general venting when clients are not present (it's hard to leave emotion at the office if you can't talk about it at the office). Family law carries a great deal of client-centric stress, and our ability to de-stress as a team matters. If the boss showing up in a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops bothers you, you may not be a good fit. If you believe that your title and pay scale puts you "above" the staff, we will not be a good fit.

If you are looking for a position where your work will have a massive and direct impact on your client's life, you may be a great fit. If you think the idea of covering every item in your colleague's office with Christmas wrapping paper when they're away at a hearing is funny, you may be a great fit. If you understand that your paralegal sometimes knows more than you, you may be a great fit. If you are capable of caring *just* enough about your client's file to do a great job without taking their emotions onto yourself, you may be a great fit.

If you think you'd be a great fit, send in an application and let's find out!

Qualifications:
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota
  • Preferred at least 3 years of experience as an attorney, but there is no absolute minimum experience requirement.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple cases at a time

  • Must be comfortable working with clients at the most stressful times of their life
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to write clear and concise legal documents
  • Must be comfortable in a highly relaxed office environment and be able to focus on work without micro-management

Please note - Indeed requires us to list a pay range, but that range is EXTREMELY variable based on experience and other factors. While the minimum listed is accurate, there is potential that for certain candidates the top end may go well beyond what is listed here, especially if you're coming with your own existing stable of cases/clients.
