Boutique law firm focusing on family is seeking a full-time associate attorney. Tasks also include:Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Assist on cases and serve as lead attorney in family law cases, including divorce proceedings, child custody, divorce, modification actions, and minor guardianships.
- Provide guidance and legal advice to clients, including helping to work to a fair resolution through settlement, when possible.
- Prepare and draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and agreements.
- Travel to courts as necessary to attend and argue pleadings on the motion docket.
- Have a comprehensive knowledge and ability to navigate the rules of evidence and civil procedure, including while serving as the lead attorney on trial matters.
- Conduct successful discovery to ensure all assets are known and discovered.
- Provide thorough discovery answers, demonstrating proper objections.
- Prepare for trial including depositions of parties and witnesses, engaging with experts, and all other pre-trial related tasks.
- Take cases to and litigate at trial, as needed.
- Work with paralegals and legal assistants to manage cases.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Juris Doctor (JD), an equivalent law degree from an accredited institution, or have successfully completed the Washington State Rule 6 clerk program.
- Must be licensed to practice law in Washington state.
- 2+ years of litigation experience, preferred but not necessary.
- Family law experience preferred but not necessary.
- Case management experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and Clio (preferred).
- Experience with Apple products preferred.
