Description:
Location: On-site position in Rochester, NY. No relocation assistance available. Litigators without Family Matrimonial Law experience are welcome; training will be provided. Responsibilities: * Manage legal matters in family and matrimonial law, including divorce, child custody, support, property division, and prenuptial agreements. * Collaborate with managing and senior attorneys, as well as clients, to provide legal counsel, prepare legal documentation, and represent clients in negotiations and court proceedings. * Required qualities: in-depth understanding of family law, strong advocacy skills, and a commitment to supporting clients through emotionally challenging situations. * Opportunity for professional growth and the ability to provide significant legal assistance to individuals and families dealing with complex personal issues. * Play a crucial role in advocating for clients and protecting their rights throughout the legal process.Responsibilities:
- Provide legal representation in matrimonial and family law cases, handling divorce, custody, spousal support, child support, equitable distribution, and domestic violence matters.
- Advise clients on their legal rights, obligations, and strategies, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their options.
- Represent clients in court, hearings, and settlement negotiations effectively.
- Prepare legal documents including discovery, motions, pleadings, agreements, and settlements with precision.
- Meet the minimum billed and collected hours as outlined in the bonus letter.
- Serve as the primary client contact, managing their expectations and offering strategic counsel throughout the case.
- Maintain professional and empathetic communication with clients, fostering lasting relationships and attracting new clients through exceptional service and legal expertise.
- Manage a caseload of family and matrimonial law cases, conducting legal research and drafting necessary documents.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediation, and settlement conferences with diligence.
- Collaborate with managing and senior attorneys on complex cases, contributing to legal strategies and trial preparation.
- Lead negotiation efforts for clients, aiming for favorable outcomes and efficient dispute resolution.
- Stay updated on developments in matrimonial and family law through legal research and continuing education efforts.
- Ensure timely completion of billing, timekeeping, and case documentation, while complying with firm standards and legal regulations.
- Track and report on assigned key performance indicators (KPIs) accurately.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the state bar in the jurisdiction of practice.
- 2-5 years of experience in litigation (family/matrimonial experience preferred).
- Excellent oral and written advocacy skills, with experience in courtroom litigation.
- Track record of providing excellent client service.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
